Kundan Jewelry India, Jewellery

This is because India must be one of the most prolific countries when it comes to making jewelry, whether it be the simple enjoyable ones or the highly delicate ones that are intricate in its designs. There are just many types of Indian jewelry that even the young could find what they want among its offering of beads and shells in interwoven colorful threads. One of the most highly regarded Indian jewelry nowadays is the kundan jewelry. Kundan jewelry is made of gold that is highly refined and is known as kundan in India. Indian jewelers also have another meaning of the word. For them, kundan is not only the gold that is made into a jewel but also the type of setting on which they set the precious stones. Kundan jewelry is not made of real solid gold. Its center part is made of lac or a natural resin made from hardened tree sap. The jewelry pieces that makes the whole kundan jewelry, which are usually justified into hollow separate halves, are usually handled by separate jewelers or assistant jewelers for its shaping before they are fitted together through soldering. Holes are then bored into the separate halves of the kundan jewelry, once they are fitted together to make the pattern designed by the jeweler. These holes are where the stones are set. Any engraving is done before the hollows of the kundan jewelry are then inserted with lac. Because the lac could still be seen through the holes in front, the highly refined kundan gold is poured on the setting to cover the lac and only then is the stone pushed right into the still pliable kundan.Kundan jewelry is also one of the old types of jewelry in India because the style on which it was made was used only way back when claw settings were still yet unknown in the country. Then, kundan jewelry had its precious stones were only set in gold and it wasn't only until the nineteenth century that claw settings were introduced and used by the jewelers in India. This was during the Rajastahan empire when kings paid their jewelers handsomely for the exquisite kundan jewelry that they made that called for excellent craftsmanship. There are now a lot of kundan jewelry available in the market and they could even be bought online. There are spectacularly designed kundan jewelry necklace sets that come with earrings. The most common are those that have uncut diamonds and other precious stones set in gold. Among the commonly used gems in kundan jewelry are emeralds, rubies and sapphires. This kundan jewelry, though, is often just a replica of the original one made in the eighteenth or seventeenth or nineteenth centuries. The original pieces could sell for as much as $200,000 or more per set.Buying kundan jewelry nowadays may have been made more attainable for those who have deeper pockets as compared to the olden times when only kings and queens could afford them. Having kundan jewelry replicated and sold at lower prices is a welcome alternative for those who could not afford to buy the original antique pieces.

Jewellery Design Show 2010

Sri Lanka's Gems and Jewellery industry can be traced back to some 3,000 years or so. They are part of many legends, folk lore and literary works and are much written about by early travellers. These gems have adorned royalty and celebrities through the ages and even today, are sought after by the rest of world. Out of about 200 minerals that are classified as gemstones, around 75 varieties are found in our country, making our island one of the most important geographic locations in the world for gemstones. In order to convert this natural resource at our doorstep into a value added product, Jewellery Design becomes imperative. The Jewellery industry in Sri Lanka is developed but we do not have designers who look at trends that are at the fore in Europe, North America and the UK and also design products that would work in these markets. The main reason for this is the non availability and access to education in Jewellery Design and therefore the inability for the country to produce designers and/or professional Jewellery Designers at an international level.Jewellery is a craft base form of study, centuries old and steeped in history. Two parts make up the whole study form, in that design and manufacture go hand in hand to complete the programme. AOD's newly established Jewellery Design & Manufacture programme will undoubtedly meet the needs an industry requires for it's further development and expansion of existing industry. The programme hopes to invite all those interested persons who have been waiting long to formalize their talent, engage an interest, follow a dream or simply acquire a new talent in the Jewellery Design field. The programme is structured conveniently for interested students and professionals. 3 hours of lecture time over 4 days a week will be attractive to students, working professionals, non working interested students alike. Students begin with basic skills they will need fundamentally to visually communicate their ideas. They are, figure drawing, still life drawing, history of Art and basic principles of Design.Students will then move on to specific subjects in Jewellery such as Jewellery illustration, rendering techniques, geometrical drawing, Gemology, Trend Forecasting, Jewellery Retailing and Marketing, Digital Design for jewellery and in the workshop they will acquire the ability to understand the properties and characteristics of materials for metalwork and jewellery-making.Student will be able to make basic pieces of jewllery such as Rings, Pendants, Chain Links, Earrings, Prongs, Bezels etc. and realize their creations by the end of the program. In the manufacturing section of the program, students will learn processes such as Melting, Hammering, Rolling, Wire Drawing, Soldering, Tube Forming, Setting, Drilling. They will be exposed to different materials other than the basic metals, to enhance their knowledge in using non-traditional methods. The duration of the BTEC National Certificate (NC) course is one year.

gold shop buying 23 ct gold jewellery in Chiang Mai Thailand

My daughters birthday, you can see some of her friends on www.flowers-ofthe-orient.com so she got 1 baht weight in gold 96.5 % pure, 23 ct, 1 baht in weight = 15.2 grammes to go with the rest she has my wife stuck her elbow in my ribs so she got another 1 baht weight to go with her collection. I fly with Emirates from the UK and in Duabai airport you can buy 24ct gold either EK or Credit Suisse, its impossible to buy 100% gold so fine gold is 99.999 % pure, it is sold by weight from 5 gramme pendants to 1 kilo bars, when we bought ours a while ago it was less than £300 a troy ounce = 31.1 grammes and a avordupois ounce is what you buy potaoes in is 28 grammes, today gold is £686 an ounce thats why the shop was busy people selling their gold. You do the math £1 = 50 Thai baht. There are thousands of these shops in Thailand all selling identical jewellery at identical prices it's just that we have dealt with these people for many years.
